The Soul of a Nation and Abortion

Ephesians 6:12 (ESV) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12 (TPT) Your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings, but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms. For they are a powerful class of demon-gods and evil spirits that hold this dark world in bondage.

May 2, 2022 - According to a report by Politico, a leaked draft document written by Justice Samuel Alito suggests that the Supreme Court will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark case that made abortion legal nationwide. Politico reports that, in the draft majority opinion document, dated February 10, Justice Alito wrote, "the Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision." If the law is overturned states would be able to decide whether to restrict or ban abortion." (US National News Feed - via Twitter)

Yesterday, there was a shock wave that ran through the internet, on national news and the steps of the Supreme Court of the United States. In a heretofore unheard of event, a draft of an opinion, not the final document, but a draft which is submitted to all justices for approval, comment and debate, was leaked to Politico. This is the first time a draft was leaked in the over 200 year history of the High Court. As we begin to discuss what this might mean, I would like to turn your attention to a verse we just read about the sons of Issachar in the Life Journal reading.

(NKJV) "...of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do..." 1 Chronicles 12:32

The goal of my writing is that for us, as the Fusion family, we would understand the times and what we should do in light of that.

What is Actually Happening?

It is important to remember that if Roe v. Wade is overturned, that will not be the end of abortion in America. If the precedence is struck down, abortion decisions would return to the states. For instance, in Colorado, a woman can get an abortion up to the day of delivery in a very hotly contested, but one sided vote this late winter. However, in Texas there is a near complete ban on abortion which was voted on and passed into law about 250 days ago. (Interestingly, the opponents said women would die (not one has) and yet, thousands of babies have survived.) The courts and the lawyers are arguing the merits along the lines of constitutionality and State's Rights versus Federal government.

Politically, something else is at work. (Remember, "we do not wrestle against flesh and blood" and "understanding the times"...) Within an hour, preprinted signs and protestors were mobilized at the Supreme Court. Political statements were drafted within minutes of the leak. Fundraising began in earnest from both sides. You see, there has been a tide turning in the overreach of a demonic system that is moving our nation slowly and inexorably towards digital health passports, the ability to buy and sell linked to them, more surveillance and less privacy, parental rights eroded while billionaire corporations and individuals exert more influence over nation states, elections and private citizens. The leak forces issues into play before the midterms, changes the narrative (anyone heard of Ukraine?), and unleashes chaos into which they will present themselves as saviors of rights, order, and logic. As one infamous political operative once said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste."

Morally, nothing has changed. Killing a human knowingly, made in the image of God, is murder. The Bible is clear. Some who have embraced a theology that is all love and zero consequence, have strangely stated that the Bible does not condemn abortion by saying it has no leanings on it either way. They argue that a soul comes in at birth with the first breath. A problem scripture to this is the response of John the Baptist (John ben Zechariah), when he was in his mother's womb and the baby leapt at the greeting of Mary while carrying Jesus. A soul-less being does not react to greetings.

Abortion is also grossly applied in a grisly business that sells body parts in markets and an organization, Planned Parenthood, that was begun by Margaret Sanger, who until recently, gave award in the name of Sanger, a noted eugenicist, who believed that African Americans were weeds that needed to be pulled in the garden of humanity. Put simply, abortion in this nation was started from an evil premise and continues to this day.

How Should We Then Think?

So, what is our stance? Our position is righteousness and love, mercy and justice. We stand, not as morally superior, but as a people who have submitted to Christ and His way of live. If anyone in our midst has had an abortion, we respond with love and compassion, leading them to the forgiveness of Jesus and the support of His body of fellow forgiven believers.

Our counsel is life. Our embrace is love. Our bedrock is Christ.

Years ago, while many were protesting abortion clinics, one of those protesting would sit on a bench to have lunch and shared his lunch and conversation with one of the workers at the clinic. This continued on for several months until one day, the lady he was having lunch with committed her life to Jesus and became a Christ follower. The lady's name was Norma McCorvey, other wise known as "Jane Roe" of Roe versus Wade. Christ's love is powerful in a world gone mad, which I think you would agree.

How Then Should We Pray?

Our prayer is against spiritual wickedness, not people. People are never an enemy, but the wickedness that rides into the culture via people is. The decision is not final. The leak was given to mobilize the proponents of abortion, this evil murder of infants, to apply social and political pressure where they can and to turn the flagging tide of the 2022 midterms. So, we pray. We pray against where we struggle.

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

We pray against the influencer and his tools, media, street opinion, fear, confusion and chaos. We release heaven's agenda on this nation of righteousness, peace and joy; the agenda of the kingdom. We pray for and release revival. Revival is the cure for all our nation's ills! Drugs, crime, abortion - all of it would be overwhelmed by revival!

Pray also that hearts would change. If heart's change, there would be no need for a law. Pray that the life of infants would be elevated. That babies would not be seen as an inconvenience, but as a gift from the Lord:

Psalms 127:3-5 (NKJV) Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,

The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,

So are the children of one's youth.

Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;

They shall not be ashamed,

But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Pray also, that the money trail will dry up. Right now, one of the worst exporter of humanism and anti kingdom policies, including abortion, is the UN. Ask the Lord to expose corruption and the money trail.

Pray that politicians will gain courage to speak out for life and if they won't, that others would be elected who will.

Pray for healing for all who have been involved in abortion.
